ARTIST PROFILE

Black & White photograph
before color added

Photographer/Artist Alison E. Mader specilaizes in
hand-colored black & white photography.

All of her work begins in black & white.
Alison hand processes her own film and prints
her own images on archival paper.
She then adds color to these black & white photographs with "Berol Prismacolor" colored pencils.

Alison is able to create personal, unique one of a kind images by adding her own color to her photographs.
She is able to change an image into a surreal or painterly scene with bold colors and soft edges or an abstracted one with defined lines and hard edges.

Alison's photographs come from the many places she travels to as well as her neighborhood and back yard.
Landscapes as well as urban areas are included in heer portfolio. Windows and window scenes, doors, architectural details are favorite subjects as well as trees, lakes gardens and farmer's markets.

Alison received s JBA in 1981 majoring in Journalism with an emphisis on Photo Journalism and a BS in 1985 majoring in Fine Art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison

Alison currently works in Madison, WI.
